Peyton v. Luck

“With the first pick of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select Andrew LuckQuarterback, Stanford!”

Those WILL be the first words NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell will say in this years NFL draft. On Wednesday, the Colts released long time franchise star, Quarterback Peyton Manning. He was due a $28 million bonus on Thursday. Instead of picking up that option, the Colts decided to release their long time star and opt to draft a rookie proven to only be able to play college ball. Don’t get me wrong, Andrew Luck may be the next Peyton Manning, but he isn’t him…yet. He may become that player but he may not. There is no proven track record that he defiantly will become the player the many expect him to become.

What were the Colts thinking. You can’t put all your eggs in one basket. What if Andrew Luck is the next Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell. We if he doesn’t pan out. What if he stinks so much, the Colts don’t win ANY games? I understand his stuff looks amazing but its unproven. He hasn’t even taken a snap at the NFL level, how do they KNOW he can get it done.

I hope that this decision to cut Peyton Manning backfires. I hope Andrew Luck does a poor job leading the Indianapolis Colts. I think he is a stand-up guy and could do very well in the NFL, but he hasn’t show those skills at the NFL level yet!

Peyton Manning has been a staple of the Indianapolis community for the last 13 years. He has a children’s hospital named after him and millions of fans. He has never been arrested, never been on the bad side of the media and has always been the guy you can depend on.

Only time will tell if Andrew Luck can lead an NFL team to success. I wish him the best of luck but not with the Colts. I want the Colts to regret their decision to cut Peyton Manning. I want them to feel as though they mad the worst decision ever mad in the NFL. What would really put a knife in the Colts would be to see Peyton signing with a division rival, Tennessee Titans?, and leading them to a championship before Luck does with the Colts.

What were the Colts thinking. You can’t put all your eggs in one basket. What if Andrew Luck is the next Ryan Leaf or JeMarcus Russell. What if he doesn’t pan out? What if he stinks so much, the Colts don’t win ANY games?
